It is famous for the Benedictine abbey of S. Maria in Sylvis, in Lombard-Byzantine style, dating back to the first half of the eighth century and rebuilt in the tenth century, which is considered the greatest artistic monument in western Friuli.
Of particular historical and artistic importance are the numerous paintings and frescoes kept inside. The site is also particular from a topographical point of view as it is an island surrounded by the waters of the Reghena river and the Sestian river.
